Call for Regional Cooperation Project Concepts

The Swiss Cultural Programme (SCP) is run by Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council, upon mandate of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. The SCP supports activities in the field of culture and arts. It has entered a new and final phase lasting from 2008 to 2012. Its focus is on regional cooperation projects in the Western Balkans with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia as priority countries. From July 2008 SCP is managed by a Regional Office in Sarajevo.

The overall goals of the Swiss Cultural Programme are to contribute to the promotion of democracy and freedom of expression, to conflict resolution, to intercultural cooperation and respect for minorities. The programme fosters regional cooperation through capacity building, empowerment and promotion of cultural initiatives and organisations, which offer innovative and diversified cultural services and products. Its thematic priorities include youth, gender equity and the creation of structures for broad cultural participation while taking into account good governance principles.

 

The Swiss Cultural Programme announces an open call for submitting concepts for Regional Cooperation Projects.

Invited for Participation are the following Actors:

  1. cultural organisations, initiatives, networks and/or associations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia, both from the public and the non-governmental sector. Applicants from Montenegro - which is not a priority country for SDC - are entitled to submit concepts under certain conditions mentioned in the guidelines.

The submitted Project Concepts have to:

  1. have a regional orientation by involving organizations from at least two of the above mentioned countries
  2. contribute to the development of culture and arts in the field in which they are operating
  3. offer innovative approach and diversified services and products
  4. aim at improving the situation in the region by strengthening culture and cultural life as an essential element of a participatory, open and dynamic civil society
  5. be of relevance within the regional context of the Western Balkans

Deadline for submission of concepts is September 1, 2008. Later applications will not be taken into consideration. Applicants will be notified by email that their submitted concept has been received.

The SCP's Regional Steering Committee will select the concepts to be developed further into project proposals at its meeting end of September 2008.

Submitting the Applications for July - December 2008

The next meeting (last one in 2008) of the National Advisory Board of the SCP Serbia for deciding on projects which will enter the realization phase in the period July - December 2008 is scheduled for June 2008.

Deadline for receiving applications is TUESDAY, 13 May 2008..
